While typically called battery acid it is actually potassium hydroxide KOH that leaks out of batteries.
KOH is odorless solid w a melting point of 306 degC. It has an LD50 of 273mg/kg (rat). It can be neutralized w any weak acid like acetic acid (white vinegar) CH3COOH.
